ARE WE ENGINEERS????
(An unique behavior of Indian engineers )
“An
engineer is a professional practioner of engineering , concerned with applying scientific knowledge, analytical skills, and ingenuity to develop solutions for technical problems.”
Says a definition from a famous encyclopedia. “The engineers must weigh different design options on their merits and choose the solution that best matches the
requirements. Most of an engineer’s time
is spent on researching . Indeed , research
suggest that engineers spend 56%
of their time with
various information behavior, including 14% actively searching for
information.” – the actual behavior of an engineer. We too are engineers , of
course we do things. We make lots of
calculations, yet none is good. We don’t
even have patience to wait outside the
bathroom and so the locks are broken. We eat till
our throat when we have our pocket tight with money
and face
the consequences the next day morning .
We rush and realize only on the
night before the final exams. We get into trouble through
teen age affairs and we are the exclusive cause. And we call ourselves
engineers with a great pride.
We study
by just memorizing the words, whereas an engineer will analyses it, make research and
practice by applying them
and therefore getting knowledge.
We chat on unproductive subjects and do not hesitate to sleep at any point of time on the pretext
of relaxation. We think logically and make use of our mind to bunk classes and
to make excuses for them. The engineers will love knowing
every bit of his lesson, where as we spot out questions selectively for
preparation. It is obvious that we don’t study for knowledge but for the
aggregate pass percentage. And now the quality of the word engineer had
obviously came down. The MNC still find
it difficult to recruit a real engineer although all the
applicants hold a master s degree
in Engineering. We have lots of time
and we should realize what we are
and ask
ourselves “Are we Engineers?”
